Two wheeler electric scooter caught fire
Rabi Narayan Senapati of Ulunda parked his two-wheeler electric scooter in front of a shop and went inside to do some shopping. While he was inside, the electric scooter caught fire and burned very quickly. The fire car was apparently called when the electric scooter was burning, however, before firefighters reached the spot, the two-wheeler was burnt to ashes. As you can see in the picture, Courtesy OdishabytesThe car is almost completely burnt. As such the exact purpose was not disclosed, although it is believed to be a battery explosion. Also, there are no details about the model of the electric car, nor is there a complete picture of what preceded the EV turning into ashes. However, we hope to get more information as the matter will be probed.
Now, this is not an unusual occurrence as till now we have seen many electric scooters catching fire. The purpose of the battery explosion was normally due to the heat generated. Some items used in electric vehicles were also imported, which were not suited to the hot weather of India, which is also the reason for the explosion.
Recently a 7-year-old child died due to battery explosion and the reason behind this was the heat generated during charging. The EV was reportedly overcharged for inflating the rear portion to catch fire.
Incidents like this are happening and do not seem to stop, but at least the number seems to be decreasing as compared to earlier. Last month, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways imposed a similar fine on electric car makers. More insurance policies are being drafted to avoid such incidents.
